The 45-year-old athlete will star in Save Our Squad, which will see David return to the pitch and mentor a group of kids playing for a struggling Sunday League.
“I played grassroots football and I was on a Sunday League team at 7 years old,” he recalled during a keynote interview at MipTV, via Variety.
He added that this “show is about giving back and giving these young kids the opportunity to work with me and to listen to my experiences from when I was their age.”
Sean Doyle, Disney+’s director of unscripted in EMEA, added: “The series will be exciting, dramatic, uplifting and full of heart and courage – everything David had in his own playing days.”
Save Our Squad will be produced by Warner Bros-backed Twenty Twenty and David‘s own, Studio 99.
David has previously played for Real Madrid, Manchester United and the LA Galaxy. He also just launched a brand new team!
