Britney Spears‘ parents are currently battling in court over her conservatorship.
The singer’s mom Lynne Spears filed papers last week objecting to the $890,000 fee that Jamie Spears‘ law firm is charging for four months of work. She stated that several of the fees were both “procedurally and substantively improper,” according to People.
Lynne felt that some of the work done by the law firm was to “combat media coverage that cast Mr. Spears in a negative light” and the services were not “performed in good faith for the benefit” of Britney. She requested that at least $224,000 be “immediately repaid” to Britney‘s estate.
Jamie‘s law firm just filed a response and it looks like the battle will continue based on what they wrote.

The law firm says that Lynne‘s claims are meritless and that she’s not “acting in the best interests” of Britney.
“Despite having zero involvement in her daughter’s conservatorship until very recently, Lynne Spears is asserting claims as if she were a party directly involved in the litigation (which she is not),” the document reads (via People).
The law firm added, “Lynne Spears‘ math of dividing the total fees by four (to calculate fees per issue) is ridiculous and belies her ignorance regarding the complex nature of the Conservatorship Estate, and the issues that needed to be addressed by H&K to properly defend Mr. Spears from specious allegations that have threatened to tarnish his reputation as a loving, caring father who has nothing to hide, has been loyal and fiercely loving toward his daughter, sought to protect her, and manage her finances so that she can live her life the way she wants.”
The firm says that any claims that they acted improperly are fictitious.
