Here’s How ‘American Idol’ Addresses Caleb Kennedy’s Exit During Sunday’s Live Show

One of the Top 5 contestants on this season of American Idol had an abrupt exit from the show this week and host Ryan Seacrest addressed the situation during the live episode on Sunday night (May 16).

The 16-year-old singer from South Carolina had a controversial video surface on the internet this week and hours after it went viral, Caleb announced that he would be leaving the show.

We were still waiting to find out if he withdrew on his own or if the Idol producers cut him from the competition, so we’ve been waiting to hear what Ryan would say.

Well, Ryan only addressed the exit with a very brief statement at the top of the show.

Caleb Kennedy will not be continuing in the competition, so tonight you’re voting on your Top 4,” Ryan said. He also revealed that only one person will be going home at the end of the night and the show will continue with a Top 3 next week, as planned.
